Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
- What is the difference between 3300 NSv and 3300 XL probes?NSv series have a smaller body and 1/4-28 UNF thread, ideal for space-limited machines. XL series use M10 thread and are common in larger turbomachinery.
- Can I use this probe with a 3300 XL Proximitor?Yes, both use the same eddy current principle and output characteristic. Ensure the Proximitor model matches the cable length.
- Why is the resistance 4.0 Ω for 0.5 m cable?Shorter cable has lower resistance. This helps verify probe integrity during troubleshooting.
- Is the probe tip field-replaceable?No. The tip and cable are one sealed assembly. If damaged, replace the entire 3300-nsv-proximity-probe.
- What torque tool do you recommend?Use a precision torque wrench set to 5.1 N•m (45 in•lb). Over-tightening can strip threads or damage the O-ring seal.
Selection Guide
- Need a different cable length? Suffix 05 = 0.5 m. Options also exist for 1, 5, or 7 meters.
- For hazardous areas, suffix 05 includes multiple approvals – suitable for most international zones.
- If your application has sustained low temperature (<-34°C), consider a custom pressure seal.
- Confirm thread type: 1/4-28 UNF (inch). Metric M8 x 1 also available as separate model.
