Product details

EPM-S404: Four-Channel Analog Input Module for Lenze I/O System 1000

The Lenze EPM-S404 reads resistance and RTD signals. It has four analog inputs. Use it for Pt100, Pt1000, Ni100 and Ni1000 sensors. It also reads plain resistance up to 3000 Ω. The module gives 16-bit resolution. It clicks onto the I/O System 1000 backplane. A bus coupler handles the fieldbus. You get fast, stable temperature data in one slim housing.

Why Buyers Pick This Module

  • Four inputs in one slot: Save panel space on a 12.5 mm body.
  • Wide sensor support: One card covers common RTD types.
  • Fine resolution: 16-bit data shows small temperature steps.
  • Long cable runs: Shielded wires work up to 200 m.
  • Clean fit: Snaps onto the I/O System 1000 backplane.
  • Active line: Lenze still supports the system. Manual v7.1 is current.

Quick Install Steps

  • Power down the rack and the bus coupler.
  • Snap the module onto the DIN rail. Press it into the backplane.
  • Wire the sensors with shielded cable. Keep runs under 200 m.
  • Tie the shield to PE at the panel end.
  • Set the channel type in the config tool. Pick resistance or RTD.
  • Power up. Check raw values in the coupler’s process image.
  • Compare readings with a known thermometer before sign-off.

Expert Review

This card is a quiet workhorse. The EPM-S404 handles four RTD loops with no fuss. The sigma-delta core keeps readings smooth on noisy plant floors. Setup is plain: pick the range, wire the shield, done. The one rule is simple. Put the fieldbus job on the coupler, not this card. Buyers who follow that rule get years of stable service.

Manager’s Insight

Temperature loops fail at the wire, not the card. We advise two things. Use shielded cable. Keep a spare EPM-S404 on the shelf. A swap takes one minute. The line restarts the same shift. Most calls we get are loose shields or wrong channel types. Check those first.

Best Fit Devices and Sites

  • Ovens, kilns and dryers with many RTD probes.
  • Food and beverage lines that need tight temperature control.
  • Plastic machines with heat zones.
  • Water and HVAC plants with Pt100 sensors.
  • Panels that already run the I/O System 1000 backplane.

Buying Guide

  • Count your RTD points first. Four inputs per card.
  • Match the sensor type. Pt100 and Ni1000 use different ranges.
  • Plan the fieldbus side. You need an EPM-S1xx coupler.
  • Check rail space. The body is only 12.5 mm wide.
  • Order shielded cable with the card. Do not skip this step.

FAQ

Q: Can this card talk to my PLC on its own?

A: No. It needs an EPM-S1xx bus coupler for fieldbus traffic.

Q: Which sensor types work best here?

A: Pt100 and Pt1000 are the most common picks. Ni types also work.

Q: What happens if a sensor wire breaks?

A: The reading goes out of range. Most couplers flag this as a fault.

Q: How long is the warranty?

A: 12 months. We ship in 12 to 24 hours by FedEx, UPS or DHL.

Q: Do I need a special tool to mount it?

A: No. It snaps onto the DIN rail by hand.

Q: Is 4.2 ms fast enough for my loop?

A: Yes for most heat control. Use shorter times only for fast processes.

Q: Where can I get stock or a quote?

A: Email sales@powergearx.com or message +86 18030005825 on WhatsApp.
