Product details
E84AYCER Lenze PROFINET Communication Module for 8400 Inverter Drives
E84AYCER is a PROFINET RT communication option module from Lenze. It plugs into the MCI slot of Inverter Drives 8400 StateLine C, HighLine C and TopLine C. The module turns the drive into a PROFINET IO device. Two RJ45 ports with an integrated switch support line, star and tree topology. This makes cabinet wiring simple and saves space.

Order Code Suffix Tree
- E84AYCER family, PROFINET module
- E84AYCERV coated design
- E84AYCERS standard design
- Core protocol and interface data are identical for both variants
- User input E84AYCERV-S maps to the E84AYCER family
Installation Guide
- Insert the module into the free MCI slot of the 8400 drive
- Use CAT5e S/FTP cable for each RJ45 port
- Keep cable runs under 100 m between nodes
- Wire a separate 24 V DC supply if the host drive cannot feed the card
- Check link LEDs after power-up
Setup and Maintenance
- Commissioning is fast: the card is detected through the MCI slot
- LLDP and SNMP simplify network discovery and monitoring
- I&M0-4 identification supports asset management
- No routine service is needed; IP20 housing needs a clean cabinet
Compatibility Notes
- Fits Inverter Drives 8400 StateLine C, HighLine C and TopLine C
- Uses one MCI slot; no other expansion is possible in that slot
- Works in PROFINET RT networks as an IO device
- Order code suffix shows coated or standard design

Expert Review
The E84AYCER is a practical choice for 8400 users who need PROFINET RT without a gateway. The dual-port switch cuts cabling cost in line topology. Real-time RT data and 16 process words cover most drive control tasks. The module is mature and stays in the current Lenze portfolio. Buyers who need coating for harsh air should pick the V variant.
Manager’s Insight
This card sells well because it is a plug-in upgrade, not a new drive. Stock the coated E84AYCERV for humid plants and the standard E84AYCERS for clean cabinets. Most orders ship the same day from stock. Keep one demo unit for customer tests.
Best Fit Applications
- Conveyor lines with many 8400 drives
- Packaging machines on PROFINET RT
- Material handling cells with line topology
- Retrofit projects that keep existing 8400 drives
FAQ
- Which drives accept this module?
- Lenze 8400 StateLine C, HighLine C and TopLine C drives with a free MCI slot.
- Does it work as a PROFINET IO device?
- Yes. It runs PROFINET RT and handles up to 16 process data words.
- What does the V or S suffix mean?
- V means coated design. S means standard design. Protocol data is the same.
- From experience, what is the most common install mistake?
- Forgetting the 100 m cable limit. Long runs cause link drops. Add a switch instead.
- How do I pick between coated and standard?
- Choose coated for humidity, dust or corrosive air. Choose standard for clean control cabinets.
- Can I use both RJ45 ports at once?
- Yes. The built-in switch lets you daisy-chain drives in line topology.
- How fast is shipping?
- Orders leave within 12 to 24 hours by FedEx, UPS or DHL.
- What is the warranty?
- 12 months from the ship date.
Buying Guide
- Confirm your drive series and a free MCI slot first
- Match the suffix to your site: V for harsh air, S for clean rooms
- Plan cable length per segment under 100 m
