Product details
Beckhoff EL2595 | EtherCAT LED Terminal
1-channel LED output, 48 V DC, 0.7 A – Regular delivery.
The EL2595 is a constant current source for LEDs. It controls one or more series-connected LEDs. Users set the current. The integrated power supply adjusts the forward voltage automatically. It uses a step-up/down converter from a 24 V DC input. Output voltage adjusts during operation to maintain the set current. Fast switching supports short-term lighting and extremely short flashes. Pulse duration: 1 µs to infinity. Timestamp via distributed clocks. External trigger input available. Real-time diagnostics monitor input/output current and voltage. If load errors occur, the terminal switches off (resettable).

Expert Review
The EL2595 offers reliable constant current control for basic LED lighting. Its step-up/down converter handles varying LED forward voltages. The fast switching (< 1 µs) and timestamp support make it ideal for strobe or pulsed applications. Diagnostics help monitor performance. For high-end precision, consider the EL2596 series. Overall, it’s a cost-effective solution for simple illumination and continuous LED tasks.
Manager’s Insight
This terminal reduces engineering effort with automatic voltage adjustment. It provides real-time diagnostics, protecting both the load and the system. The optional auto-operation ensures process continuity even if the controller loses communication. Choose the EL2595 for standard lighting needs; upgrade to EL2596 for demanding applications where precision is critical.
Typical Applications
- Machine lighting
- Signal lamps
- Strobe/flash systems
- Continuous LED strips
- Indicator panels
- Automation visual feedback
FAQ
- What is the maximum output current?
- The EL2595 supports 300…700 mA, depending on output voltage and duty cycle.
- Can I use it for short flashes?
- Yes, pulse duration is adjustable from 1 µs to infinity. Fast switching supports very short light pulses.
- How does the auto-operation work?
- If communication is lost, the terminal continues with the last set current.
- What load errors cause shutdown?
- If the load exits a specified corridor (e.g., short or open circuit), the EL2595 switches off protectively.
- Is an external trigger needed?
- An external trigger input is available, but you can also use timestamp via distributed clocks.
- What is the difference to EL2596?
- The EL2596 is more powerful and high-precision. EL2595 is for simple lighting > 300 mA.
