- Connect the 24V DC shared-bus control power with kit 2198-TCON-24VDCIN36 and T-connector 2198-H040-P-T for Frame 2 drives.
- Engage the zero-stack tab and cutout between adjacent drives.
- Use the 2198-K53CK-D15M feedback connector kit for flying-lead motor cables.
- The cooling fan runs at control power startup, when the inverter is enabled, and when inverter temperature exceeds a preset threshold.
- Limit power cycling to one cycle per minute.
- Keep the drive in an environment within 0…50 °C and 5…85 % non-condensing humidity.
- Use CAT5e shielded Ethernet cable up to 100 m.
- For ring topology, add a Device Level Ring (DLR) supervisor.
Commissioning and Maintenance Convenience
- Configure the drive with the Studio 5000 Logix Designer application.
- Use the four-character status display and navigation pushbuttons for local diagnostics.
- The drive supports CIP Security for authenticated data transport.
- Use the replacement connector set 2198-CONKIT-PWR30 for spare parts.
- Set brake engage and release delays with MechanicalBrakeEngageDelay and MechanicalBrakeReleaseDelay.
- Registration accuracy is ±3 µs, and registration repeatability is 1.0 µs.
- Safe Torque Off turns off inverter power transistors for Stop Category 0.
- The default drive stop action is Current Decel & Disable.
- Use Motion Axis Stop (MAS) to decelerate to 0 rpm, then Motion Servo Off (MSF).
- Keep the fan path clear. The fan runs only when needed.

FAQ
Q: Can I run this drive with a single-phase supply?
A: No. The 2198-C2030-ERS is rated for three-phase 200…240V AC input only.
Q: Does the drive include an EMC filter?
A: No. You need the 2198-DBR40-F AC line filter for CE compliance.
Q: How much peak current can the drive deliver?
A: It delivers 61.0 A (rms) peak for up to 1.0 s.
Q: Can I use the drive without a Logix controller?
A: Integrated motion on EtherNet/IP expects a Logix 5000 controller and Studio 5000. Other EtherNet/IP masters are not described in the official documentation.
Q: What feedback types does the drive accept?
A: It accepts Hiperface absolute, Nikon 24-bit, Tamagawa 17-bit, Digital AqB (TTL) with UVW, and generic sin/cos with UVW feedback.
Q: How do I know the drive is running safely?
A: The hardwired Safe Torque Off input is TÜV certified up to PL d, Category 3 and SIL CL2. UL has not evaluated this option.
Q: How often can I power-cycle the drive?
A: Limit power cycling to one cycle per minute.
Q: From experience, what should I check first when the drive faults on overvoltage?
A: Check the external shunt wiring and the internal shunt thresholds (387.5V on, 377.5V off). Also confirm the bus overvoltage limit of 405V is not exceeded during deceleration.
Q: What is a common mistake during first setup?
A: Forgetting the zero-stack tab engagement between adjacent drives. This can cause poor control power sharing and intermittent faults.
Q: Can I use a longer motor cable than 30 m?
A: No. The official drive limit is 30 m (98.4 ft). Longer cables are not supported by the published data.
